My Journey

The launch of Bakchich Baba happened somewhat “by chance” while I was studying Chinese in Paris. At the same time, I was training to become a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher, and I didn’t want to ask my father in Bulgaria for money to support this, so I asked him to make bricks for me instead.

During the first year, I simply made whatever materials people asked for and showcased them on a blog. Once I completed my master’s degree, I realized how amazing it would be to keep the adventure going — it truly brought together the things I loved: Yoga and creativity.

Encouraged by my partner, I registered as a self-employed entrepreneur, and we had all the materials, packaging, and even friends coming to pick things up directly from our apartment in the 14th arrondissement.

The Name Bakchich Baba

Bakchich Baba expresses the idea that there’s no need to struggle, nothing to learn or seek — just ask for Grace.

The sadhus do this beautifully, sometimes asking for a few rupees with a smile and the simple phrase “Bakchich Baba.” That expression often disarmed us. I saw in it a sense of surrender, letting go, and a true inner freedom. So when it came time to choose a name, I felt drawn to this one.
